People do short fasts and long fasts for many reasons. Some people claim that it helps to reduce the risk of developing many diseases and also that it helps to clean out toxins from the body. Some people also do it for spiritual and religious reasons. I’ve had quite a lot of experience with short fasts of about one to three days, but never more than this.
